My newsletter – What’s it all about?

So some of you will have signed up to my newsletter and received 3 by now! I decided to start one in May, partly for marketing reasons and partly for a good way to show you all directly what I have been up to and all my latest offers. I really love doing these each month as I like to look back on what I have been doing, I like showing off lovely photos and I like to tell you what great deals you can get on my photography. Now some of you may be thinking, what is a newsletter, and why should I sign up? Well, lets talk about newsletters!

Boudoir – A Home Visit!

It’s been quite a while since I last blogged, around 4 weeks! I don’t like to let things slack but sometimes grown up life gets in the way (boo!).  However I am back now and more inspired than ever, I have some treats for you, including a newsletter (sign up here), my new boudoir venture with Natalie, a shoot where I am in front of the camera, promo images and more! There is so much going on, you really can’t afford to miss it!

I recently did another boudoir shoot with Natalie, and this time we did a home visit. This is something that we offer if you feel you would be more comfortable at home, or you have an amazingly decorated bedroom (like this lovely lady did!). Of course we are limited by space and lighting so that is always something to keep in mind if you would like a shoot like this.

You can imagine how excited I was when Sophie sent me this photo of her bedroom, every boudoir dream was fulfilled I think!

Boudoir, the perfect wedding present for your future husband

Katrina came to me wanting some beautiful photos to give to her husband-to-be on their wedding day. She wanted something classy and sexy, but without showing too much skin.  We had a little look on Pinterest, and spoke about any worries and insecurities Katrina had, and how we could banish them on the day of the shoot. With any boudoir, as soon as any worries are mentioned, I work hard to make sure I have a plan to make you feel at ease. This could mean posing in a certain way, making sure we have a relaxing atmosphere or even keeping in constant contact to ensure I can answer any questions you may have.

Bridal Boudoir

I photographed Clara’s wedding in March, it was a beautiful day, the weather was kind to us, and her dress was absolutely beautiful! We thought it would be fun and cheeky to do a bridal boudoir shoot, using some of the accessories from her big day and also her hen do. We chose a range of tasteful poses which look elegant but still sexy. I guided Clara into the poses, working around any problematic areas that she felt she had (none, she’s stunning!), meaning that she could be as comfortable as possible during the shoot.  My close friend and amazing make up artist  Natalie did Clara’s make up and she did an amazing job getting the balance between neutral bridal make up and enough make up to show up on camera with the bright lighting set up.

What Clara says:

‘I recently had my very first boudoir shoot with Vicky. Now I’m one of those woman that isn’t completely happy with her body. So as you can imagine the nerves where kicking in couple days before. Before we started Vicky and Natalie were making me laugh and are very giggly. (This helped a lot) By the time I got changed after having my make up done by Natalie, I started to feel so much more relaxed. All the way through, Vicky kept asking if I was ok. She did make me laugh. Got me bending in places I haven’t tried in years. I loved doing the boudoir shoot. It’s great fun and so different. Vicky and Natalie make you feel so comfortable. I would love to do it again!’

Boudoir – A present for the groom or you?

Boudoir is a growing trend, especially in the wedding industry and more and more people are doing it! I think that’s great and very exciting as I absolutely love Boudoir and think that not only should more people become aware, they should partake too! It really is an amazing way to look good and feel great about yourself. Doing a boudoir shoot can give you confidence you never knew you had, and with the right photographer you will feel completely at ease while shooting.

I think it’s important when choosing to do something like this that you do it for yourself foremost, and then think of others. A lot of brides have Boudoir shoots to give as gifts and I think this is a lovely idea, it’s a cheeky little reminder of you on the morning of the wedding and pictures that he will treasure. However I have heard of some brides ‘forcing themselves’ to do it for their husbands to be or because they think they should. Honestly, that’s not what Boudoir is about, it’s about having fun, feeling sexy, and it should be empowering. You should only do it if you want to and not because you feel like you have to!

A peek into a boudoir shoot…

I’ve done boudoir shoots before, I love them, they are classy, sexy and beautiful! But this time around I wanted to do it slightly differently, all of my other shoots have been mainly lingerie and sexy poses based, I wanted to have a more laid back approach this time. I feel that a lot of women don’t feel like they should, could or would have a boudoir photo shoot and that’s a shame. They can be really fun, inspiring and confidence boosting! I wanted to do a shoot with a little more clothes, a softer style but still sexy! I want to show people that boudoir can be whatever you want it to be, and it’s all about getting beautiful photos of you. You don’t have to wait until you are the right age, or weight, or even for the right occasion, you don’t need a reason to have stunning images that show off your looks!

I recently did a shoot with Becca, we decided on a lingerie shoot, but with a huge jumper for modesty and a bit of tongue in cheek. Becca was so lovely to photograph, she was a complete natural even though boudoir was fairly new to her. I love how sweet the blushing smiley photos are, and in contrast how strong and sexy some of the others are. I feel like it shows a different side to boudoir and I love it!

My New Branding and Promotional Photos

During my re-brand I decided that I should take my new camera and go and take some photos! I wanted something that showed how I like to photograph, my style, and at the same time show off all the things that I can do. I have a variety of things that I like to take pictures of and I wanted to show my abilities through these photos. I decided on Beauty headshots, Wedding, Boudoir and Editorial, these are all important to me for different reasons. Beauty headshots because they are really useful and heavily used by make up artists and models. Weddings because that is something I am marketing myself for – it is lovely to be part of someone’s big day. Boudoir because I absolutely love it, it’s classy and sexy and so much fun, I would love to make more people aware of how amazing having boudoir images taken can be. Finally, editorial because while I was at university I loved shooting fashion style images and would love to continue, probably mostly on a time for print basis, but I would love to shoot for print at some point too! I hope you love my images as much as I do!

2015 Resolutions

2014 has been a year of many changes and many achievements, I began the year in my final year and University and will finish with all the tools I need to launch my Photography business. Although New Years resolutions are often overdone and boring, on a personal note they are important to reflect on the year and see how far I have come. Last year I fulfilled most of the things on my list, with a few exceptions and this year I hope to do the same!

1.) Fully launch my business, advertise and book in clients throughout the year.

2.) Be creative in photographing, shoot more, liaise with other creatives.

3.) Do a photography course, read some books, learn more skills.

4.) Keep saving for a house.

5.) Keep crocheting and finish projects!

So there you go, a small list this year because I feel I have achieved so much already! Small but important things to me that I hope to carry out in the coming months – watch this space!

Boudoir Images – looking classy and sexy!

Now, at the beginning of the summer I did say that I would be doing some more photo shoots and especially some boudoir stuff. Unfortunately with a new part time job and a lot of pieces to pick up from the end of second year I haven’t got around to much. What I have got however, is more clarity, less stress, and more money to spend on camera stuff (can I get a woop?!).

I have however managed to do one portraiture shoot (not including the wedding and the shoot I did for that bride) and it turned out to be a pretty great one at that! Coral had seen that I was advertising for women to do boudoir images and decided she wanted to feel more confident about herself and her body. She said to me ‘I love these images, I came to you so I could feel confident and sexy and that’s exactly how these pictures make me feel!’

I would like to share some with you as I think they are stunning, thankyou Coral for being such a beautiful and easy going model!
